Well, hello everybody. Happy spring to you all. My favorite time of year. The beginning of warm and sunny things to come. What have we been up to? Thanks for asking! This new place is growing very fast. Managing all of the variables involved with an actual counseling "center" versus a private practice, is quite different. Things are growing very quickly. It's all very good...and sometimes tiring. The people that I've chosen to work with continue to just "blow me away." Mark Caron (Dr. J.) is the living definition of a "find." Theresa Ressiguie (AKA Lisa Loeb) is our own Ms. Jean of Romper Room. Ann Karlon (Nature girl...windows open in February) is just a flat out outstanding adolescent and child therapist.

Thanks for all of the support that we have received from clients, schools, medical centers, PTAs, Probation officers, Parents, and on and on...

This month we'd like to focus on the funny "Kid's Cliche's" that we've been collecting for the past few months. Simply put, we basically present the first half of a well-known cliche to a child and allow them to finish it with the first thing that comes to their mind. Sometimes they actually finish the line with the "real" ending. Mostly they just take a stab at it with the first thing that comes to their mind. Their answers are at times just priceless. Take a look.

Don't count your chickens before …"you eat them"
Don't put all your eggs in one … "pan"
Flying by the seat of your …"helicopter"
Good things come to those who …"don’t deserve it"

His bark is worse than his …"cough"

His eyes are bigger than his stomach. What does this mean? "Your eyes are too fat"
Money doesn't grow on… "cheese"
No use crying over spilled … "Lego’s"

In one ear and out the "Q-tip"
Never put off until tomorrow what you can do …"next week"
I’d love to be a fly on the … "candy"
One man's trash is another man's … "food"
Out of the frying pan and into the … "dog’s mouth"

SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING FOR CHILDREN

These group experiences will teach your child to get along better with their peers and more effectively communicate with parents, teachers and other authority figures. They will also learn to understand all forms of communication such as gestures, body language, voice inflections, and figures of speech.

DO YOU HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER IN IRAQ?

We have a new support group locally that can benefit both adults and children. This group experience will help to support families with deployed military family members serving in our armed forces overseas. Learn strategies to cope with this particular family situation while supporting your loved one that is abroad.

TESTING SERVICES NOW OFFERED

Do you have a child that has attention/concentration issues?

Do you suspect your child has memory or learning disabilities?

We are happy to announce that we are offering on-site educational, psychological and neuro-psychological testing by Mark D. Caron, Ph.D. He will be able to test your child and provide you with a detailed evaluation so that you can obtain the proper services to help your child succeed.

We also offer an educational support group for parents of children with attention and concentration issues that meet every other week.

Occupational Therapy

We are now providing Occupational Therapy in our office. Anyone interested in receiving short or long term services, please call Amy O’Coin, Certified Occupational Therapist, to get additional information or schedule appointments.

Amy O’Coin is currently accepting Mass Health and Harvard Pilgrim Insurance.

Fallon and Blue Cross are pending and should be finalized soon.
